AI-driven personalisation will redefine partner engagement

We’ve all seen how technology has been transforming how we work, and AI is stepping in to make partner engagement smarter and more effective.

Shweta Jade

Every partner has different needs, goals, and ways of working. Managing that at scale used to feel almost impossible. But now, AI is stepping up to help us personalise how we engage with partners. Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, we’re talking about tailored programs, incentives, and even content that matches exactly what a partner needs to succeed.

AI tools can analyse data from a bunch of sources—like sales trends, partner performance, and even customer behaviour—to predict what’s going to work best. For example, it can flag which partners are most likely to deliver results so you can focus your time and resources there. It can even recommend the right type of training or campaign support for specific partners based on their strengths and gaps.

And let’s not forget automation. AI can handle those repetitive tasks like sending updates, tracking performance, or sharing reports, so your team can focus on building real relationships. At the same time, partners get a smoother, more personalized experience, which keeps them more engaged.

By 2025, I think this will be the new normal. AI won’t just be a tool; it’ll be the foundation for how we interact with our partners, helping us make smarter decisions and drive better results—together.

Revenue Operations (RevOps) integration will transform partner marketing

We have all heard the buzz around RevOps as this is the big shift that’s unifying sales, marketing, and customer success teams.

In the past, partner marketing often felt like it was running on a separate track. Sales were doing their own thing, customer success was focused elsewhere, and marketing was trying to bring it all together. It worked—kind of—but it wasn’t as connected as it needed to be. RevOps changes that by breaking down silos and making everything flow together. For partner marketing, this means tighter alignment across the entire partner lifecycle—from recruiting partners to enabling them to co-selling and retaining customers.

Instead of partners getting handed off from marketing to sales with no real follow-through, everyone is working from the same playbook. The data is shared. The goals are aligned. And you’re not just throwing campaigns at partners and hoping they stick—you’re tracking how those efforts directly impact revenue. It also means better insights. RevOps gives you a clearer picture of what’s working and what’s not. Let’s say a partner is doing great at bringing in leads but struggling to close deals. With RevOps, you can spot that faster and bring in the right resources—maybe extra training or co-selling support—to help them succeed.

By 2025, I think RevOps will become the backbone of partner marketing. It’ll give teams the tools and alignment they need to be more efficient, more effective, and ultimately more impactful. It’s not just about hitting your numbers; it’s about creating a system where partners, and the business, can thrive together.

If 2024 has taught me anything about partner marketing, it’s this: not all partners are created equal, and personalisation isn’t just a nice-to-have—it’s the crown prize of building winning partnerships.

In an increasingly crowded market, understanding that the game for 2025 isn’t about having more partners; it’s about having the right ones, is what will separate good partner marketers from excellent ones. Gone are the days of cookie-cutter strategies and hoping something sticks. In 2025, partner marketers need to get laser-focused on nurturing fewer, high-impact alliances that can deliver results all year long.

This means ditching the scattergun approach and rolling up your sleeves to co-create hyper-tailored roadmaps. And here’s the kicker: be ready to tweak, pivot, and reinvent as you go. Not easy—but it’s necessary.

This could mean trading off traditional playbooks and generic webinars. Instead, think of intimate in-person sessions that may not break the internet but hit the bullseye with targeted audiences. Less noise (at times), more substance.

But the personalisation trend doesn’t stop there.

In 2025, partner marketers will also need to turn their attention inward—specifically, to their partners’ internal teams. Why? Because no matter how well-aligned a partnership is on paper, it’s the sales reps, account managers, and customer success teams who bring it to life. These frontline teams are the true engine of any partnership, and the savviest marketers will treat them like an audience of their own.

This means launching internal campaigns to educate, excite, and equip partner teams. Think tailored battle cards that speak directly to their pain points, bite-sized training sessions that make the partnership easy to sell, or even co-branded swag to build pride and familiarity. When these teams feel confident about the partnership’s value—and how it helps them win—they become your most powerful advocates, bringing your joint solutions into more conversations and driving better results.

In 2025, success in partner marketing won’t just be about packing more logos into your marketplace or competing to launch the most campaigns. It will be about creating synergy that fits at every level—between organisations, within teams, and in the market. Likewise, the smartest marketers won’t just win over customers—they’ll win over the teams that sell to them.

In 2025, along with increased use of AI by partner marketers for all tactics from Content development to training, I personally think there will be a shift to move beyond one-to-one collaborations and focus on building stronger ecosystems. Multiple complementary partners—like technology vendors, service providers, and consultants—will join forces to align on go-to-market strategies, create co-branded campaigns, and tackle shared customer challenges.

By working together, these partners can deliver more comprehensive solutions, unlock bigger opportunities, and enhance customer experiences. It may sound complex, but clear communication, aligned goals, trust, and joint right activities will enable success.

Looking ahead to 2025, I think two key trends will likely shape the future of partner marketing: data-driven decision-making and a growing emphasis on sustainability in partnerships.

Laura Petrosillo

Data-driven decision-making will become even more central. The use of advanced data analytics and AI will empower partner marketers to drive deeper insights and make more informed, precise decisions. From tracking partner performance to optimizing campaigns in real time, leveraging data will help refine strategies, improve ROI, and personalize partner engagement at scale. This shift will not only make marketing efforts more efficient but also enable us to better anticipate partner needs and adapt quickly to market changes.

Sustainability in partnerships will emerge as a significant focus. As businesses across industries prioritize environmental and social responsibility, partners will increasingly expect vendors to align with these values. Demonstrating a commitment to sustainable practices will be key to building trust and long-term relationships. Partner marketers will need to integrate sustainability into their value propositions, showing how their solutions contribute to a more responsible and ethical future, which will enhance both brand reputation and partner loyalty.

2024 has been a transformative year in partner marketing, marked by innovations that have redefined how we operate. From the rise of Generative AI to an increased focus on performance measurement, and the emergence of a partner “echo” system, the landscape is evolving rapidly. These shifts will continue to shape the future of partner marketing in 2025.

Prediction 1: Generative AI will become integral to operations

Rachida Izri

In 2024, many of the leading marketing agencies I’ve collaborated with highlighted the growing importance of embracing AI, particularly in demand generation. What began as a curiosity is now rapidly becoming an essential tool for marketers. Generative AI, especially Large Language Models, has moved beyond being a mere trend—it’s fundamentally transforming content creation and marketing operations.

Generative AI has revolutionized content creation, turning basic tasks into engaging, high-impact outputs across various marketing activities, such as email writing, content translation (a nod to my sister—it’s definitely not cheating), newsletters, and meeting transcripts. It’s also accelerating lead progression through intent data, content automation, and agile human communications, significantly improving lead-to-pipeline conversion. Rather than posing a threat, AI should be embraced as a transformative tool that enhances campaign performance through meaningful interactions with prospects. Now is the time to explore how AI can elevate your marketing strategy in 2025.

Prediction 2: Building a Genuine Partner “Echo”system

One of the key takeaways from our major company events this year is that with the right vision and engagement, your partner ecosystem can play a pivotal role in driving the changes you aim to make in the market.

In 2025, the emphasis should be on cultivating a true partner ecosystem that rallies all partners in your network behind your cause. No partner should be left behind—if they are, they may start looking elsewhere. Supporting frontline partners with the right resources while clearly sharing your vision is critical to fostering collaboration and growth. This “echo” effect—where partners share knowledge, content, and strategies across their networks—will amplify your market impact. By onboarding partners early, gathering their insights, and jointly rolling out strategies, companies can create a ripple effect that drives sustainable growth and aligns everyone with shared goals.

Claudia Chiodi, Partner Ecosystem Marketing Manager EMEA at Red Hat

The digital transformation landscape has never been more promising, especially with the widespread adoption of cloud technologies. Enterprises seek cloud environments that offer choice, flexibility, and independence to safely experiment with and adopt new technologies.

Key areas for partner marketers to focus on include:

Claudia Chiodi
  • AI and Cloud Convergence: The rise of AI-driven cloud platforms will require strategies that emphasize integrated solutions for efficiency, automation, and scalability.
  • Edge Computing: As more enterprises adopt edge computing for real-time data processing, marketing should highlight decentralized solutions that address latency and cost challenges.
  • Sustainability: With ESG guidelines gaining importance, sustainable solutions will become a priority for both partners and customers. Vendors and suppliers that meet these standards, particularly in terms of energy-efficient technologies and eco-friendly infrastructures, will stand out.

In terms of approach, flexibility will be key. As the market evolves, so do partners, adapting to new scenarios and customer needs. Partner programs and marketing strategies must be flexible to accommodate modern “recurring-revenue” and “subscription-based” models.
